Good morning all

To put it in the positive the President's v Captains's match will be played on freshly renovated greens, thanks to an army of volunteers ably lead by TK and his staff. To core, sand and seed all 18 greens and the putting green in three days (one of which was rained out) is a mighty achievement. So Saturday will go ahead with a good field. You can still enter by Friday midday (today).

The main event for April is ANZAC Day and members are encouraged to get their entries in as soon as possible in order that we have accurate numbers for catering. Entries can be made through the website, and a sheet will be up in the downstairs foyer for members to add their names manually. The match committee are well advanced with planning for this iconic Karori Event.

Other key points/highlights to note for this week are:

  • Dulux Partnership - members can get up to 45% off paints, wood care products & accessories - detail below.
  • Cheap Firewood - Selling now - get in quick! Details below. (Note this is really last orders.  We are down to the last few trailer loads of dry firewood).
  • 1 x Cart Down - we're waiting on Cart 9 to be repaired by a technician, so we're down to a fleet of 8 until then.

The first round of the Sullivan Cup will be played on Sunday April 19. This is a match play competition open to all 18 hole players based on handicap and off the yellow tees. Rounds can be played on Sunday or Tuesday. It would be great to have all eligible members compete.
Please email me denise@karorigolf.co.nz to enter.

9 Hole Women's Inter Club

Karori 9 hole interclub team played Kapiti White at Waikanae today. The weather was lovely with a little wind and warm.
Sadly, we had a 3-1 loss but congratulations to Lindsey Pickering for her win in no 1 position.

Course Renovations

This was a truly stunning effort.

Using our own aerator to core all the greens and a small army of 17 volunteers to augment the efforts of the staff, all 18 greens have been cored, sanded and seeded.

Lunch had to be taken early as the volunteers had caught up with the work of the staff to get the greens sanded and prepared for sweeping.  This is a luxury problem I know but its a great indication of the enthusiasm of the volunteers to complete the work before forecast rain arrived.

TK has a bunch more work to do to on the greens over the next few weeks to promote growth and the health of the greens but by appearances the greens look like they will recover very quickly.

Very well done everyone.

As a result all 18 holes are open from today Friday.  So make a booking and get your golfing fix while the weather remains reasonable.

Please note, staff and a few volunteers will be working tomorrow too,  to attend to other course related matters so please remember to give way to those who are working to get the course into good condition.

Firewood

Firewood sales have been very encouraging. Stocks are getting low but an audit of available wood was done late this afternoon! So if you would like some firewood, the flyer below provides the information required. We can deliver to your property!

Do get your order in early as once the wood is gone, we then have only freshly fallen trees to cut for firewood which is not likely to be too good for winter fires this year.
