Welcome to the first Friday Flash for 2026. We start the year with 525 members, 144 more than Jan 2024, and 55 more than in Jan 2025. Thank you to all who have contributed to the Club's success over this period. Please register now for our 2026 Opening Day Event - details below. The Miramar GC Reciprocal Trial has started well with positive feedback from all parties. The Dec 2025 net-off payment was $2,900 in Kaori's favour, which is a great result. • KGC Opening Day - Sunday 25 Jan 2026. Ambrose event. Registration details below.

Vets @ KGC

KGC hosted the first Wgtn Mens Veterans tournament of the year on Monday, attracting a field of 45 of whom 15 were KGC members and 30 were from other clubs in the district. TK and his team presented the course in excellent condition and the weather was perfect, with many compliments being heard back in the clubhouse over a wonderful lunch provided by Denise and Margaret Peck after play. The event was played in two Divs off the red tees, with prizes being awarded to the top 8 placings in each. Both Divs were won by players from Miramar, but KGC members were well represented in the top 8 of both: Tim Brosnahan, Matthew Everett, and Graham Black in Div 1; and Mike Cox, Ian Bates, and Peter Wilcox in Div 2. In addition, Matthew Everett and Jim Waters won the NTPs.

Wednesday Club

The Wednesday Club competition was cancelled because of a lack of participants. The poor forecast put off a lot of people and only three players set off at about 10.30 am. There was 20 minutes of light rain and then just occasional drizzle and we finished in sunshine – good rounds from everyone. Let’s hope for a better turnout next Wednesday.

Wednesday Twilight

Twilight was cancelled this week due to weather, but last week 22 golfers turned up for our first Twilight of 2026. Conditions were great and the greens were very fast!

Two shared first place with 23 stableford points: Brigitte Boenisch-Brednich and Kate Apperley. Closely followed by Sam Julian  with 21 points, and  two Twilighters chasing the prize, took out third place on 20 points: Sam Gardiner and Alen Moshi. Graeme Couper won the NTP and there were no ‘twos’.

A big thanks to Kate Apperley, who stepped in as 'bar-assistant' and Will Lyall, who did everything from egg slicing and plating up the BBQ table to running the prize-giving! Also thanks to Jon Lyall and Phil Apperley on the BBQ. See you all next week for another evening of social/fun golf and dinner. (Cheers Gail)

New Tractor

We’re excited to welcome the arrival of our new Kubota tractor. This is a great addition for the course and will allow us to stay on top of rough mowing more efficiently, as well as carry out more spraying as required. The new tractor will help improve presentation and consistency across the course moving forward.

Volunteer Day - GK Revenge!

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers for the time, effort, and pride you’ve put into course work throughout 2025. Your support makes a massive difference, and it was great to celebrate together at the end-of-year Volunteer Day Greenkeepers’ Revenge on 11 Dec. The day was filled with plenty of laughs, good food, and well-earned beverages, and a big congratulations to Ngatau for taking out 1st place — a very deserving winner. It was a fantastic way to wrap up the year and show our appreciation. (Cheers TK).

Annual Subscription Payments - Help Please!

Please, please, please help the club administrators keep our membership database accurate and ensure we pay the correct levies to NZ & Wellington Golf. You can help by remembering two things:

  1. It's a members responsibility to keep contact details updated in their NZ Golf account, and if they don’t, they risk being resigned in error as they will miss communication from us.

  2. Members will be automatically renewed at the end of their term on the same membership basis unless they advise otherwise.
