KGC Opening Day - Sunday 25 Jan 2026

Save the date! Further details will be promulgated seperately, but a broad outline of the day is:

  • Date: Sunday 25 Jan 2026
  • Format: Ambrose
  • Tee-off: Shotgun Start @ 10am
  • Tee Markers: All available
  • Entry Fee: Donation to cover prizes
  • Teams of Four: Ideally, every team has 1 x woman and 1 x junior member. (Note: Juniors may elect to play with a parent).
  • There will be Raffles & Prizes on the day.

Local Rules

These are going to need to be updated to take into account the new penalty area on Hole 6.  The tyres and the stone groyne are no longer outside the penalty area so there is no free drop.  If you are not able to play a shot without damaging your club, your option will be to go to the drop zone to proceed.

Note also, placing through the green is in force for now.  Lots of members are losing golf balls, and playing out of the rough is a chore. So for the summer fun period, placing is allowed everywhere except the penalty areas.

9H Ladies

From Tue 03 Dec: We played our shoot-out with sadly only 7 people available out of the 10 that entered. A big congratulations to Kath Robinson who won and Loreen Brehaut who came second. This is the end of our formal competitions which will resume on 27 January. A huge thanks to Chris Suggate for her leadership this year. (Cheers Hilary).

Women's Vets

The Wellington district women’s vets, with a large field, were held at Manor Park this week. Liz Odell from Karori came third in the Bronze Division. (Cheers Jane).

Wednesday Club

On Wednesday, despite the forecast, thirteen golfers played in a Par competition. There was light to heavy drizzle on the first nine holes and only five players completed the round. Bob Cavana (+2) beat Luke Underwood (+1) with Marcus Henry, Matthew Everett, and Patrick Cordue all getting a ball. Nearest the pin was not awarded. Luke picked his own number to win the raffle, with John Timperley second. There were no twos.

Any Age:

  • Patrick Cordue – Combined
  • Mike Cox – Stableford
  • Derek Fitzgibbon – Par

75 years or Older:

  • Terry McAlister – Combined
  • Martin Leung – Stableford
  • Ian Bates – Par

Wednesday Twilight

Nine keen Twilighters came out and enjoyed the kast event this side of Christmas. Great fun and some Christmas cheer was had. Merry Christmas to all and we'll see you in 2026. (Cheers Gail)

Miners Arms Bowl

Grab yourself a partner and enter the Miners Arms Bowl - 3 x round competition. This is a four ball better ball stableford competition played off the white tees.  Each team must play a round in December, January and February. Note, you must nominate the day that you are playing before you tee off.  You must play with someone to mark your card. This competition is not loaded in the computer and you will need to write your score on the entry sheet which is posted on the noticeboard in the downstairs foyer. Everyone is welcome to enter.

The Longest Day Challenge - Scott McHardy

I'm stepping up to The Longest Day challenge - a golfing endurance event of 72 holes to raise funds for New Zealanders affected by cancer. The funds I raise will support the Cancer Society's work in Wellington

Cancer sucks! The last year has been really challenging for my family with this shit of a disease so I'm joining hundreds of other Kiwis to make a real difference. Every day 77 New Zealanders are diagnosed with cancer. Every donation I receive will go towards cancer research, prevention and support services for people who need it the most.

If you'd like to sponsor me, please click on the link below. Thank you for your support!

Update - Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific

We’re getting closer to our big golf event – just 65 days until tee-off! There’s a lot happening behind the scenes as we continue working with the R&A, and their organising teams, to prepare for the Championship at Royal Wellington, 12–15 February 2026. Player invitations have gone out, and we’re excited that one of our local Wellington players will be part of the 84 player field.

Did know that there will be around 250 volunteers onsite each day, covering 30 volunteer different roles? These range from supporting activities in the Royal Village, traffic direction, driving VIPs, marshalling, scoring, caddying, security, and assisting at the practice range. Every role – both on and off the course – is essential to delivering a world–class event that will be televised in more than 100 countries.

The organisers are still looking for a few more helpers – if you, friends or family may be interested, please encourage them to register here https://royalwellington.miclub.com.au/cms/womens-amateur-asia-pacific-general-volunteer-form/

Thanks is advance from the organising team!

New Sponsor - RJS Recruitment

We're delighted to announce another new sponsor - RJS Recruitment.  Established in 2022, founders Ryan & Jasper (who are also keen golfers and regularly play Karori) identified the absence of labour hire companies with a genuine hands-on understanding of on-site work.  Leveraging their extensive experience in the building industry and strong networks, they've built a team of 85 dedicated professionals, who specialise in labour solutions, building solutions and site cleaning to ensure building projects run on time and within budget. Annual Subscription Payments - Help Please!

Please, please, please help the club administrators keep our membership database accurate and ensure we pay the correct levies to NZ & Wellington Golf. You can help by remembering two things:

  1. It's a members responsibility to keep contact details updated in their NZ Golf account, and if they don’t, they risk being resigned in error as they will miss communication from us.

  2. Members will be automatically renewed at the end of their term on the same membership basis unless they advise otherwise.
