Sadly, we lost Club legend Keith Gaskin (Gaskie) this week. Gaskie was a founding member, Honarary Life Member, past President, Makara local, fantastic golfer and all round wonderful guy. The clubhouse flag is flying at half mast out respect for Gaskie, his whanau, and countless friends and members he's made an impression on during his long association with our Club. A memorial service will be held at Lychgate, 7 Johnsonville Road, on Tue 18 Nov 2025 at 11:00am. RIP Gaskie.

9H Ladies
Nine of us enjoyed a fun competition called Bingle, Bangle, Bungle on the back 9. There are 3 single points to be gained on each hole so quite the serious competition was had. Congratulations to Jane Campbell who amassed 13 points, second was Eizabeth Wagner with 11 and third equal were Kath Robinson and Chris Suggate with 9 each. (Cheers Chris)

Wednesday Club
Fourteen golfers competed in a Par competition on Wednesday. The winner was Ian Bates (+4) from Michael Cox (+2) with balls given down to -1. Matthew Everett was nearest the pin on the 4th, but no twos were recorded on the day. Luke Underwood won the cash raffle with Saint Kennach second. The fine red wine raffle was drawn, and Patrick Cordue won the wine with Bob Cavana getting the ProV1s. Players stood for a moments silence to acknowledge the passing of Keith Gaskin, a many-time winner of Wednesday Club competitions and trophies. (Cheers Patrick)

Wednesday Twilight
We had 33 golfers dealing with quite 'gusty' conditions at Twilight this Wednesday. The greens were quick and, with the pin placements unchanged from the City of Wellington, were challenging!
At the top of the table the two Sams changed places. Sam Gardiner moved to first place on 26 stableford points, and Sam Julian dropped to second place on 20 points, with Brigitte Boenisch-Brednich coming third on 19 points. Richard Reith took out the NTP and there were no twos or eagles to report this week.
Thanks once again to all our helpers, particularly David Eley and Eric McAuley on the BBQ again, and to Brigitte for a lovely salad. See you all next week for another evening of social/fun golf and dinner. (Cheers Gail)

 Lightening Fast Greens for CoW!
In preparation for the City of Wellington Classic, our team put in a huge effort to get the greens running at their absolute best — and the results spoke for themselves! We achieved a lightning-fast 10.5 on the Stimpmeter, which is right up there with championship-level speeds for New Zealand club golf. To get them rolling that pure and true, we lightly sanded the greens to firm up the surface and smooth out imperfections, then dropped the mowing height from 3.5 mm to 3 mm for a tighter, faster cut. Add in seven consecutive days of rolling and a four-day stretch without watering to let the sun naturally dry and harden the surface, and the transformation was incredible. The combination created firm, true, and lightning-quick greens that truly tested every player’s touch — exactly what a tournament of this calibre deserves!

Club AGM - Call to Action
As promulgated earlier this week, Club’s AGM will be held on Saturday 06 Dec 2025 at 9:30am. At this stage, the two key outcomes of the meeting will be:
1. Determine the 2026 Committee - The closing date for nominations is 29 Nov 2025. Nominations must have a mover and seconder, and be signed as having been accepted. Nominations are to be handed to Club Manager, Clayton Willocks, by the closing date.
2. Vote on adopting new Club Rules to ensure we comply with new Incorporated Societies legislation. The draft new rules were emailed to all members on 23 Oct 2025. If you have any feedback, please send to rules@karorigolf.co.nz no later than next Friday, 14 Nov 2025. Feedback will then be assessed, and if supported, advised to members in time for proper consideration at the AGM.
