Bertram Cup

Congratulations to the two Nics (Mills & Staite) who prevailed (1 up) over Phil Hartley and Cairan O'Kelly in the semi-final. They play Adam Payne & Davis Simanu in the final tomorrow. Good luck to both teams.

9H Midweek Women

We had the most glorious day to play three competitions. Congratulations to Marion Thompson who absolutely blitzed the field with her 27 nett score for the main competition on Tuesday. The next best scores were nett 35s and we thought that was acceptable. Chris Suggate won the other 2 prizes for ‘closest to the pin’, and ‘the longest drive’. (Cheers Chris)

Women's 18 Hole

This week the 18 hole women competed for the Sheena Allen Grandmothers Stableford trophy. Each player gets one extra stablerord point per grandchild. Sunday's winner was Liz Odell, our English member, who had an amazing 46 points (only 2 Grandchildren) so a most impressive round. Tuesday players could not beat that score so Liz is declared the winner and the trophy will have her name engraved on it.

A reminder to enter in the Women's Club Championships: Best Nett Silver & Bronze by emailing Denise - denise@karorigolf.co.nz

Wednesday Club

Blustery, cool, overcast conditions challenged 16 stalwarts of Wed Club with 3 prevailing in the latest Stableford round. The winner was Malcom McAlister with 38pts (wine). Runners-up Ian Bates 37 (2 x balls) and Mike Cox 36 (1 x ball). Balls were also given to 34 points and everybody without a win received a chocolate. NTP was Saint Kennach who paid the Pig (i.e. no 2). The winner of the raffle was Satish Chandra, second was Saint. See you all again next week. (Cheers Ian).

Thanks to the small crew who helped clear the debris on the left side of the club entrance driveway. There's still plenty of remediation/tidying up work required around the course. If you have the time please contact TK@karorigolf.co.nz and he will add you to the list of volunteers. Details for volunteer days are:

  • Day: Every Tuesday (unless canceled prior via email)
  • Timings: Meet @ 9am at the Clubhouse
  • Dress: Old clothes, sturdy footwear & gloves (if you have them)

Divots & Pitch Marks

Since coring, there's been a noticeable increase in pitch marks on our greens. We all must do our part to take care of and respect our course. We ask our members to do just a few simple things:

  • Repair your pitch marks immediately - left unrepaired, even for just several minutes, the recovery time can be weeks instead of hours.
  • Replace your divots or fill with sand (i.e. carry a sand bucket).
  • If you see an unrepaired divot or pitch mark - please repair.
  • Refrain from practicing on the course – please use the practice area and make your divots linear.
  • If you see someone not complying with the above - have a polite word & let the staff know.
