News
Happy New Year to all Members, welcome to the first flash of the year.
Hector Slade (Club Manager) left Karori Golf Club on Tuesday. As many of you will know, Hector had indicated to the Committee sometime ago that he would be leaving. The Committee is actively seeking a replacement and marketing for the role is ongoing and we have a number of applications to consider.
The link is below to if any one in the wider membership is interested in the role.

The Committee would like to thank Hector for his service to the Club and wish him all the best for the future. Hector often went beyond what was required of a manager in his role and for that we are very grateful. We have seen unprecedented green fee revenue during his time at the club and he reintroduced some Club Competitions as well as starting and donating the Longest Day Trophy.(see below)
On an other note we are always on the lookout for casual staff for the clubhouse, so please get in touch clubhouse@karorigolf.co.nz
Greens
The greenkeeping team is now back to its full complement of three after the Christmas break and expect to make rapid inroads into a backlog of work. Members will be aware that some damage was regrettably caused to some greens by the use of a mower on which the cutter height had not been correctly set after the blades had been replaced. This was not helped by weekend mowing commencing at 5am when the light was poor. This damage will grow out rapidly. The greens have been sprayed this week with a pesticide after some infestations of a roundworm and further work is planned to remediate the areas of cracking and lifting.
Behaviour on the course. The committee has been advised of an incident last Sunday when a member was verbally abusive to our new trainee greenkeeper who was working on the course. Such behaviour is completely unacceptable. All staff must be treated in a civil manner, and if members have an issue of any sort they should take it up with a committee member who will address it.
Longest Day
Just before christmas 9 hardy soles played 72 holes in one day in aid of the cancer society raising collectively over $6000.
Scott McHardy won the event and is seen below being presented with the trophy by myself.
