 Good morning All,
Thank-you, Good Bye and Good Luck Stephen Wood Golf Professional
Further on in the Friday Flash Stephen Wood tells us that he needs to resign to pursue his business responsibilities.
We are going to miss him mightily.
He has been a good mentor to a number of our junior members and has run very successful junior academies in terms one and four over the last two years.
The energy around the club from the junior influx has been infectious. Not only juniors joining as members but a number of parents as well.
And, the proof is in the eating. His young charges have gone from strength to strength and beefed up the club's inter club teams, while also performing well in Junior Pennants and the Watt Cup (Wellington's preeminent junior inter club event) where they finished in a creditable midfield position.
A big thank you Stephen for all you have done for Karori Golf Club. We wish you well in your future endeavours, and hopefully at some later time we may reacquaint.
Nail Biting Stuff for Inter Club Teams
Our Division 4 and Division 9 inter club teams have a nervous wait this Saturday to learn their fate after the seasons efforts on the links.
Division 4 was promoted last season and they have put up a good showing. However they are in the "dance of the desperates" with Boulcott's Farm to avoid relegation. Boulcott have it ahead of them to pick up 9 points away to leaders Waikanae. It could be said, game set and match, but golf is a funny game. That result will be watched closely while they teams battle it out in the Tin Cup.
The same could be said for Division 9, although the stakes are a bit different. Division 9 lead their division by 14 points but there is a good possibility that Waikanae could sneak through if they can garner 14.5 points at home against Miramar. Miramar have struggled this season so if all the Waikanae guys are in good form Division 9 could be pipped at the post for the trophy.
All the same this is a good result for Division 9 who were in serious danger of relegation last season. They will have their fingers crossed that Miramar manage to get at least 1 point at Waikanae.
A big thank you to captains and players who represented the club on the field this season. All our teams did the club proud.
