Firstly, a huge welcome to Brooke - our new Clubhouse staff member starting next week. Brooke has just finished Y13 at Wellington Girls College and up until recently worked for several years at the Makara Beach Cafe. She lives across the road from the Club, so like Nic, can walk to work! Brooke is taking a gap year - so has joined our casual staff roster and will initially work Thursday's and weekends. Please give Brooke a warm KGC welcome when you see her.

Wednesday Club

Great weather on Wednesday enjoyed by 13 golfers in a Par competition. Bob Cavana (+1) finished first, ahead of Nobby (visiting from Otaki) and Victor Diem, both all square. Balls down to -2. Saint was NTP (red/yellow tees) and nobody playing the white tees got on the green (prize jackpots to next week). No twos. Playing companions, Fergus McLean and Christopher Pearce, drew each others numbers to take out first and second in the raffle respectively. (Cheers Patrick)

Wednesday Twilight

Twenty seven golfers turned up for Twilight this week. There was no wind and conditions allowed some great scoring! This week Brigitte Boenisch-Brednich took out first place with an outstanding 24 stableford points, closely followed by Tim Brosnahan and Simon Conway (from Hutt Park)  with 22 points. Three Twilighters chasing the prize, took out third place on 20 points: David Eley, Richard Reith and Fergus McDougall.

Fergus won the NTP, with John Stubbe and Simon Conway getting the ‘twos’ this week.

A highlight for Adrian Porter this week was to be putting for an eagle from just off the green on the eighth hole (picture below)!!!

A big thanks to Sam Julian and Ben Morris on the BBQ this week, and  to Karen Simcox for another lovely salad. See you all next week for another evening of social/fun golf and dinner. (Cheers Gail)

Firewood Fundraiser - Can you Help?

We have a bunch of firewood to sell and we need weekend volunteers to help with this. Firewood is available to purchase from the golf club (mixture of pine and macrocarpa) for:

  • Boot Load: $50
  • Ute/Small Trailer Load: $100
  • Large Trailer: $150

Volunteers on the weekend will merely need show buyers where to pick-up their wood and collect the cash. We already have three volunteers and a few more will mean that rostered duties will not be onerous.

Please let me know by email (president@karorigolf.co.nz) and the roster will be made. Shifts will be for one weekend day for no more than three hours.

We really appreciate all and any help we can get, and thank you very much for those who have already put their hands up.

Mark Peck
President

Annual Subscription Payments

Please, please, please help the club administrators keep our membership database accurate and ensure we pay the correct levies to NZ & Wellington Golf. You can help by remembering two things:

  1. It's a members responsibility to keep contact details updated in their NZ Golf account, and if they don’t, they risk being resigned in error as they will miss communication from us.

  2. Members will be automatically renewed at the end of their term on the same membership basis unless they advise otherwise.
