We've had a fantastic response to the Bertram Cup with 21 teams entered so far. Playing as a team is a lot of fun, and there's still time to enter (just!) - details below.  It was great to see lots of Wellington College students playing on Wednesday - making the most of their day off for teacher interviews - clearly they're all on top of your studies!!! Other highlights for this week are:

  • New Branding - TK's ute is now a mobile billboard and the website has our new branding - there's more to come on this!
  • Tuesday Volunteers - Occurs every Tuesday unless cancelled by email. If you're interested in helping - details are below.
  • Kiwi Tee Block Markers - A massive thanks to Tony Hewitt who has made over 100 x Tee Block Markers for the Club.

9H Ladies

The Ladies played an ISTAS completion on Tuesday with Jane Campbell being the winner with 30 points. 9 of us played in the competition but it was nice to see 3 “learner” golfers out there too. The weather was perfect with no wind and warm, but the greens were very fast. (Cheers Kath)

Wednesday Club

We had beautiful weather for the competition on Wednesday. Carts were allowed and 20 golfers participated in the Stableford competition. The winner was Perry Florance on 37 points (in his first appearance for some years) from Jim Waters on count back. Balls were given down to 32 points. Patrick Cordue was nearest the pin on the 4th and had the only two of the day on the 13th. Luke Underwood won the raffle with Patrick second. Everyone had a free chocolate. (Cheers Patrick)

Calling All Volunteers

Thanks to those who cleared the debris on the 4th tee block last week - this will allow a lot more light in to promote grass growth. Also, a massive shout out to Tony Hewitt for making over 100 x tee markers for the Club. Keep an eye out for the new blue tee markers.

There's still plenty of remediation/tidying up work required around the course which a hearty group of volunteers tend to each Tuesday. If you have the time please contact president@karorigolf.co.nz and he will add you to the list of volunteers. Details for volunteer days are:

  • Day: Every Tuesday (unless cancelled prior via email)
  • Timings: Meet @ 9am at the Clubhouse
  • Dress: Old clothes, sturdy footwear & gloves (if you have them)
  • Bring: Sunscreen & water bottle
  • Lunch: Provided by the Club
  • A bit of golf afterwards! Always a bit of fun, and daylight savings is just around the corner.
