Wednesday Club

It was a beautiful day for the Par competition on Wednesday. Unfortunately, it was not a day for carts and many people were apparently put off by the weather. Eight golfers set forth for a social round of golf and enjoyed the near ideal winter conditions. Just a bit of casual water and a couple of spits of rain. A couple of people scored much better than their handicaps. Everyone had a couple of chocolates after the round. (Cheers Patrick)

Holes 2 & 6 - Now Call-up Holes

To attempt to improve the pace of play, Holes 2 & 6 have been designated "compulsory call-up holes." This means players are expected to allow the group behind them to play their tee shots (assuming they're ready to tee-off of course) while the first group is still on the green, even if the first group hasn't finished the hole. The Club intends to trial this for a period to see if it has the desired effect. Feedback on this is welcomed to our Club Captain, Kevin Norquay at clubcaptain@karorigolf.co.nz.

Club Trundlers for Hire

It seems golfers (members, green fee players and even freeloaders!) are still helping themselves to trundlers without paying. On a couple of occasions lately, Clubhouse staff have rented out clubs with a trundler, only to discover there's none available (a little awkward!). Please, if you wish to use a Club trundler, pay $5 in the shop before you play. There's now a sign on the wall under the deck where trundlers are stored. We hope the sign & this message sorts the issue and we don't need to resort to locking them up.

New Sponsor Announcement

Karori Golf Club is delighted to announce a new Hole 4 sponsorship partner, Ged Boyle from Ray White Real Estate. Ged is a previous member and his son, Jack, is involved in the junior program.

“I jumped at the opportunity to become involved with such a progressive club. The junior program has been a wonderful initiative and will only continue to grow”.

Club Sponsor Update

Karori Golf Club has renewed the majority of our sponsors for the 2025/26 period. All good things must come to an end, so we'd like to sincerely thank Capital Construction, Collective First National, Lockwood & Co, and Quintons for their long association with the Club. We would love to find additional Hole or Cart sponsors. Our offer is below. Please email clubhouse@karorigolf.co.nz if you know of anyone who might be interested in discussing further.

Update: KGC Investment Fund

The KGC Investment Fund has been established to support the Clubs long term financial security. A sub-committee has been formed to manage the fund and includes 3 independent members with financial/investment backgrounds (Wayne Cook, Gerry Verhaart, and Dick Borgdoff) plus the Club President and Treasurer. The sub-committee has had its first meeting and agreed that initial funds of $10,000 will be invested in a managed fund with a growth risk profile that reflects the long term focus of the funds. Our initial investment has been provided from funds raised at this year's KGC Twilight competition and a generous donation from one of our members.

We encourage members who wish to support the future of our Club to make donations to the Investment Fund as and when they can. As the Karori Golf Club is a registered charity, any donations can be claimed as a tax refund. If you wish to donate to the Fund, please include reference to the "KGC Fund" in your donation. The Club bank account is: 06-0501-0432338-00.

This is an exciting development for the Club, and we look forward to updating members on progress in growing the Fund.
