Ladies

10 June - 9H: There was a rainbow beaming right down to the 1st tee when we arrived! We played the Back 9 this week, the format was nett and the winner gains entry into the Top Cat Mug played later year. The clear winner was Hilary Newby on 33 nett. A great result considering the heavy conditions. (Cheers Susan).

9 June - 9H Interclub: We played our second to last game of Interclub on Monday at Boulcott’s Farm in cold pouring rain and strong winds. Our opponents were Royal Wellington who won 2.5 to 1.5. Jane Campbell had a good win that included a birdie 2. Our round 11 game at Miramar Golf Course was cancelled due to weather and all teams competing scored 2 points. We are in 8th place out of 13 teams with our final game on 19 June at Royal Wellington. (Cheers Hilary).

3 June - 9H: Congratulations to Trish Titcombe who continued her great form by winning the Match Play Trophy in a close final against Jane Campbell. The others played a stableford competition won by Chris Suggate with 19 stablefords, followed by Kath Robinson second and Lindsey Pickering third. Once again we felt fortunate to get our matches played before the weather caved in. (Cheers Chris).

Cart Use

The course has experienced several days of extremely heavy rainfall over the past couple of weeks making the course very heavy and prone to cart damage. The average monthly rainfall for Makara in June is 123.8mm, and this week alone the course has had over 90mm. Therefore, for the forseeable future, when cart use is allowed, they must stick to the fairways. If your ball is in the rough, please park on the fairway and walk to your ball. This will stop the wetter areas being damaged and TK will be more likely to allow cart use through the winter months.

Clubhouse Heat Pump

Winter months will be a little more comfortable in the Clubhouse for staff and patrons. This week a Daiken Floor Heat Pump was installed. A huge thank you to Wednesday Club ($1,000) and the Tuesday Women ($500) for their generous donation to help defray costs. As you can see, Debbie was delighted and hinted it may have been the happiest day of her seven year tenure at KGC :-)
