The Titlesit Club fitting last Friday was a huge success for the Club. Troy Ropiha very much enjoyed his day at KGC and plans to return in Spring. For those members who walked-up on the day and were unable to be accommodated, you'll get another chance soon. The Tin Cup is tomorrow and Oteranga Trophy on Sunday. Best of luck to all competing. I'll be away for the next couple of weeks, so you'll get a Friday Flash reprieve! The next one will be sent on 13 Jun.

Ladies

9-Hole: On Wednesday, in perfect conditions after a couple of days of torrential rain, the 9 Hole Women played the first round of the Matchplay Trophy which resulted in wins for Trish Titcombe, Susan Wright, Hilary Newby and Jane Campbell who will play the next round next week. Those not taking part in the Trophy event played a Stableford competition which was won by Marion Thompson. (Cheers Kath).

18-Hole: Sunday is the first round of the Pinfold Cup. This is a Stableford competition from any tee. There are 5 rounds with best 3 to count. On Sunday any 18 hole female player just has to tick the competition to enter, this can be done in conjunction with the regular Sunday Club day as they are both Stableford competitions. I would encourage all eligible players to enter to ensure a true competition for this trophy. (Cheers Denise - Womens Club Captain)

Wednesday Club

On Wednesday, in wonderful weather for golf, a field of just 14 played in a Stableford competition. David Comans was the winner on 38 points (wine) ahead of Patrick Cordue on 36 points (chocolates). Balls were given down to 32 points. David was also nearest the pin. There were no Twos on the day. The raffle was won by Victor Diem with Martin Leung second. Chocolates were enjoyed by those who didn’t otherwise earn a prize. (Cheers Patrick)

Divots & Pitch Marks

Given the heightened use of our course, it's inevitable we'll have an increase in divots and pitch marks. Our greenskeepers work hard to keep the course in the best condition possible throughout the year, but they do need our help. We all must do our part to take care of and respect our course. We ask our members to do just a few simple things:

  • Replace your divots or fill with sand (i.e. carry a sand bucket)
  • Repair your pitch marks
  • Refrain from practicing on the course – use the practice area
  • If you see an unrepaired divot or pitch mark - please repair
  • If you see someone not complying with the above - have a polite word & let the staff know.

Doing these things will enhance the quality and enjoyment of our golf, and maintain the morale of our dedicated volunteers & greenkeepers!

Dog Complaints

We've had several complaints from members and staff about wayward dogs, both on the course and in the Clubhouse. Dogs are welcome on our course, but owners need to always abide by our dog policy.

  • Dogs must always be under control of the owner.
  • On the course dogs must be Kiwi Avoidance Trained (KAT) to be allowed off their lead. If a dog is not KAT trained, it must always be on the lead whilst on the course or practice area.
  • In the Clubhouse, dogs are not allowed upstairs or in any of the offices, locker rooms or bathrooms. Dogs are allowed in the downstairs foyer and on the outside deck.

A register of KAT trained dogs is kept in the shop. Please provide details to Clubhouse staff to allow your dog to roam freely.

Give-A-Little: St Patrick's Church Re-Roofing Project

We've had a request from the Makara Community Centre Association to promote their Give-a-little campaign for re-roofing of St Patrick's Church to our members. It’s a worthy local cause so if you feel inclined please provide your support to help our local community.
