The Titleist Club Fitting day is underway, all six slots are filled. Thanks to all those who have signed up. Please note, to accommodate the practice fairway closed until 4:30pm today. The other news this week is the committee have approved a heat pump to be installed into the Clubhouse and we have pigs making a nuisance of themselves again!!!

The Tin Cup (KGC Inter Club Teams Play-off) will be held next Saturday, and then we're into the Club Champs. Qualifying rounds will be held on 08 & 15 June, then the match-play commences. Senior cut-off is 9.9 HCP, other Divisions will be determined by entry numbers.

A big shout out to our two new members this week:

  • Harry Kiernan (Full Aged 25-31)
  • Torsten Jones (Junior 18U)

Welcome! We hope you enjoy golfing with us.

Ladies

9H Ladies: The 9 hole women played medal 4, a nett competition, in quite breezy conditions on Tuesday. Congratulations to Trish Titcombe, a clear winner with a nett 33. And to Sue McLaren who was second with a nett 40. (Cheers Chris).

Womens Vets: Seven Karori ladies played vets yesterday at the revamped Miramar course. It was a perfect Wellington day and the course looked great. The new course is an interesting layout with the greens being particularly challenging. However between us we bought home quite a few new balls. (Cheers Jane).

Wednesday Club

On Wednesday, in perfect weather for golf, a field of 22 played in a Par competition. Mike Suggate was the winner on +2 (wine) ahead of Saint Kennach on all square (chocolates). Balls were given down to -1. Mike was also nearest the pin. There were no twos on the day. The raffle was won by Saint with Fergus McLean second. Chocolates were enjoyed by those who didn’t otherwise earn a prize. The announcement that the Wednesday club had donated $1000 to KGC to go towards a heat pump for the clubrooms was met by a round of applause. (Cheers Patrick)

Pig Alert!!!

We've got pig touble again. They came in overnight Wednesday and made a mess of the area behind the 6th green. It took TK quite some time to repair. If you see pigs or any damage they cause please call TK ASAP on 022 7000187. if the turf isn't repaired immediately, it dies.

Clubhouse Heat Pump

Winter months will be a little more comfortable in the Clubhouse. The Committee recently approved the installation of a Daiken Floor Heat Pump. A huge thank you to Wednesday Club ($1,000) and the Tuesday Women ($500) for their generous donation to help defray costs.

Dog Complaints

We've had several complaints from members and staff about wayward dogs, both on the course and in the Clubhouse. Dogs are welcome on our course, but owners need to always abide by our dog policy.

  • Dogs must always be under control of the owner.

  • On the course dogs must be Kiwi Avoidance Trained (KAT) to be allowed off their lead. If a dog is not KAT trained, it must always be on the lead whilst on the course or practice area.

  • In the Clubhouse, dogs are not allowed upstairs or in any of the offices, locker rooms or bathrooms. Dogs are allowed in the downstairs foyer and on the outside deck.

A register of KAT trained dogs is kept in the shop. Please provide details to Clubhouse staff to allow your dog to roam freely.

Give-A-Little: St Patrick's Church Re-Roofing Project

We've had a request from the Makara Community Centre Association to promote their Give-a-little campaign for re-roofing of St Patrick's Church to our members. It’s a worthy local cause so if you feel inclined please provide your support to help our local community.
