The ANZAC Day Tournament is currently underway in glorious weather - over 90 golfers are out there making the most of the conditions. If you're thinking about playing this afternoon, the course opens up again at 1:45pm. Thanks to the volunteers who helped clean up a couple of areas of slash and seed fairways this week. TK managed to get the drain in the lower car park sorted yesterday, please avoid the seeded area near the practice putting green.

ANZAC Day Tournament

What an amazing turnout! After a short but moving ANZAC Day Service, 92 golfers headed out to battle it out for the Fraser Smith Trophy. A huge thanks to the committee members for assisting with organising, Karen Simcox & John Stubbe who helped cook a hearty breakfast, and Will Lyall for reciting the Ode. Of course, no ANZAC Day is complete without ANZAC Biscuits - thanks you to Phil Hartley and his wife for baking some extra sustenance for our golfers. It was also great to see some Wellington Saints basketball players enter, and we thank them for providing merchandise and tickets for prizes. We look forward to the results in next week's Captains Corner.

Ladies

9H Ladies: We had a very small turnout on Tuesday with school holidays and sickness impacting a few of us.  Most importantly the 9 Hole Club Championship final was completed with Lindsey Pickering taking the honours in a well deserved win.  Congratulations Lindsey for continuing a fine run of form. Well done to our runner up Hilary Newby. The rest of us played a stableford medley on the Back 9.  Congratulations to Susan Wright who also had a very consistent game scoring 15 stablefords. A few new faces have joined us recently which is great to see. Hopefully when they get their handicaps we can welcome them as new members. Good luck to our Interclub team who play Kapiti White at Masterton this Monday (Cheers Chris)

Wednesday Club

Despite the forecast of strong southerlies, a field of 14 assembled for a Stableford competition (although there was one withdrawal due to injury). Tim Brosnahan was the winner with 39 points (wine) ahead of Martin Leung on 38 points (chocolates). Graham Black was nearest the pin. There were no twos on the day. The raffle was won by Patrick Cordue with Gerd Warnke second. The last of the Easter eggs were enjoyed by those who didn’t otherwise earn a prize. (Cheers Patrick)

Juniors - Sunday Tee Time Trial

Starting next term on Sundays (from 4 May), 2 x tee slots have been booked specifically for junior members from 11:30am. All junior members are invited, and encouraged to turn-up and play together. This will initially be a trial and, if successful, will continue through Terms 2 and 3.
