Friday Flash
News
Kia Ora everyone.  It’s been a busy week with planning for events underway and lots going on.

Welcome back to Debbie who has been away for a couple of weeks so you'll all now have another familiar face in the clubhouse on Wednesdays and Fridays.

City of Wellington
Just a week to go before our big tournament. The entries are coming in now but still space for Karori members to enter.  Register online or drop me an email and I’ll put you in.
Tee time is 9am with registration at the club house from 8am.

Entries close at 5pm of Friday 3 November.  A draw will be done and notified shortly after that.  No post entries will be accepted.

Entry fee for Karori members is $40.

Labour Day
Last Monday was Labour Day and as a public holiday was a busy day on the course. Great to see so many members out there and lots of green fee players giving it a go too.

Tuesday
On Tuesday the nine hole ladies played a par competition on the back nine. The winner was Paddy Sullivan on a count back from Hilary Newby.
The final of the club championships will be played next Tuesday between Sue McLaren and Lauren Robey.
The flight was played on Tuesday between Susan Wright and Jane Campbell, a very tight game with Jane only winning on the last hole.

Wednesday Competition
On Wednesday, twenty golfers set forth in good weather to compete in a Stableford competition. The winner was Martin (40 pts) just ahead of Patrick (39 pts) and Marcus (38 pts). There were two twos: Christopher Pearce (13th) and Marcus (6th). Mike Suggate (who had to leave early) was nearest the pin but he will have to pay the pig to collect his ball. The cash raffle was won by Christopher Pearce with Mike Cox second.

Thursday Twilight Golf
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t playing nicely on Thursday and rain and heavy winds caused us to call off Twilight golf.  Back into it next week though.

Next Week
Vets
Monday sees the Vets come to Karori and enjoy our beautiful course.  They will be teeing off at 10am and look to have about 50 players confirmed at this stage.
Many thanks to Ian Bates for his tireless work putting this together. We are looking forward to a big day.

Working Bee – Thursday 2nd November
Thursday 2 November by volunteering to help around the course for a general tidy up.  Please wear sturdy footwear and gloves and bring a rake/shovel with you.

Meet at the Club House at 9am where tasks will be assigned.  Lunch will be provided and there will be a nine hole golf event following the lunch.  All help will be gratefully appreciated, particularly by TK and his team.

The Course
A big shout out to TK and his team as I am receiving positive feedback about the greens getting faster and more enjoyable to play.

TK has also told me that he and his team will be working some long days next week to get the course looking amazing for our tournaments and among other things will be lowering the height of the rough.
Thanks TK.

Front Gate
With the sun coming up earlier we will be getting our front gate reprogrammed to open just before 6am so members will be able to get access to book those early tee times.

That’s it from me.
Have a great week.
Keith
