From the Course:

Thankfully we have not had the rain like our East Coast colleagues. Our thoughts go out to all those golf courses, members and staff effected by the ongoing torrential rain.

Dan, William and our great band of volunteers continue to keep our course in great condition.

However, we still have quite a few wet areas around the course and extra care needs to be taken. Please try and keep your trundlers and carts (when allowed) to the fairways as much as possible and follow the signs around the course (especially when in a cart).

Course Superintendent’s arrival:

As you are aware, TK starts with us from the 3rd July. We are planning a ‘Welcome’ for him on Wednesday 5th July at 09:30 in the Clubhouse. It would be great if we could have as many members as possible. It is also an opportunity to get to know all our Green Staff (Dan and William) as well as acknowledging our amazing volunteers who continue to give their free time to help maintain the course. Please arrive from 09:15. We will also have some morning tea after the welcome. If you would like to bring some baking along, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Booking a Tee Slot:

Please can I ask that you ALL book a tee slot online or by phoning the Club on (04)476-733 or emailing the club on clubhouse@karorigolf.co.nz . I appreciate that at times when you look online, there are a lot of free tee slots so you think there is no need to book. However, the booking system serves as a way of knowing how many people are playing on the course, who is on the course which is important should there be an accident or event and we need to account for everyone.

There have been several complaints from members fed up with people just turning up and going out on the course. These are not just green fee players as they have either booked online or come into the shop to pay their green fees. Everyone who comes into the clubhouse are always asked if they have a booking and if they don’t, we give them the next available tee time and put them into the tee sheet.

Also, if the clubhouse is open, please have the courtesy to come in and tell the staff that you and your group have arrived. There are a lot of members booking a slot and then not turning up. If, for any reason you are unable to make your booking, please either delete it or let us know. We are more than happy to help you in any way we can. Thanks.

RESULTS FOR THE WEEK:

9-hole Midweek Ladies Report:

We had one of our smallest turnouts for midweek golf this season for a variety of reasons including sickness, injuries and for the luckier ones, holidaying! Congratulations to Elizabeth Wagner for winning the Putting competition with 17 putts on a countback from Lindsey Pickering.

The previous day, the last Women’s Vets competition until September, was held at Boulcott Farm. Congratulations to Lindsey Pickering who won the overall prize with 20 stableford points.

Wednesday Club:

Twenty golfers, including four on carts, played in glorious weather yesterday in a Stableford competition. Terry McAlister continued his wonderful form with a clear win on 41 points (his wine cellar is full to over-flowing thanks to four wins in five weeks). Bob Cavana was second with 38 and Marcus third with 37. John Stubbe was nearest the pin and had to pay the pig. Marcus had twos on the 2nd and the 6th while Luke had twos on the 6th and the 13th.
