Building Repairs

The amenities block is now structurally repaired though flashings to cover the new fascia boards are on order, and some internal tidying up is required. The windows are also being repaired before repainting and the double doors into the Ladies Club Captain’s room are being replaced with a wall with a window above. The support structures for the two water tanks on the roof are collapsing and will be replaced.

Work has now moved to the main clubrooms with the first of the new external columns now installed and work on others progressing. We have adopted a “no tolerance for rot” approach and Lee and his team are doing an excellent job of what is a very difficult removal and repair task, beam by beam. We have also uncovered a significant rot issue under the deck where the method of fixing this to the building has trapped water requiring substantial additional work.

New Aluminium doors are on order for the two upstairs entrances, and a new double door will be installed under the deck to allow cart access. The removal of walls inside will greatly increase cart storage options.

Building colours

The building will be progressively repainted as the repairs are completed to take advantage of the scaffolding, except for the blockwork and the large areas of windows on the West side which will be painted under a separate contract after repairs are completed.

Denise Marten, on behalf of the committee, requested the assistance of a colour consultant from Resene to select colours for the new painting. The colours selected are shown in the photograph below.

  • Roof, timber doors downstairs and top of handrails leading to the two upstairs doors: Squall (dark grey)
  • Blockwork: Athens grey
  • Timber windows, fascia boards, posts (which will be external to the building), soffits and handrails: Resene white
  • New Aluminium joinery : Appliance white
  • And the green: this is an accent colour, though we have yet to identify an application for this (noting it is the same as the new bench seat awaiting relocation outside

Green Keeper Message.

A Big thanks to Dick Borgdorff, David Eyre and Jeff Mason for weeding the creek beneath the 6th and cutting the bank.

Please remember to take a bucket of sand out with you every time you play to fill divots.

Coring will be taking place in the next couple of weeks. We will give you more details next week when we have a better idea of what the weather is going to be like.

Covid Requirements

Members are reminded that while in the Red setting masks are required when inside the clubhouse. This includes the downstairs foyer and change room. Members and guests will be warned for not wearing masks, but continued non-compliance will result in being asked to leave.

Masks may only be removed to eat or drink then must be put back on again. These measures are in place to best protect staff and other members.

We will update members on the club's vaccination policy on April 5 following our next committee meeting.

If you do wish to be considered for Inter club please contact the club

Last 16 will be played this weekend. Good luck to all involved.
