Matt’s Message: (Greenkeeper’s memo)

The proposed tree maintenance work was supposed to begin on Tuesday but it has had to be rescheduled due to weather. We will keep members advised when this will take place. We are intending to fell the large pine behind the 18th green as well as trimming the macracarpa to the right of 8th tee. On Monday we are going to be solid tining greens (which will mean small holes, this will help improve drainage. It will cause little disruption to play.

Course Rating - Update

The course has been re-rated to be deemed slightly easier and changes will be effected shortly. Most members will notice a 1 shot difference to their course handicaps when first playing after the changes have been implemented.

These changes come as a result of the need to reflect the impact of the 2019 rule change regarding penalty areas, and the updated practice to account for wind, plus the desire to more accurately reflect the rating of the course for the alternative tees that Wednesday Club regularly play off. There has also been adjustments made due to our change from sand bunkers to grass depressions.

We will advise our membership via email once these changes have been implemented.

Wednesday Club

A beautiful autumn day was not taken advantage of by the 36 strong field with only 2 managing to better their Handicap.

The winner was Graeme Presland on countback from Paul Hawkes each with +2 against Par! The following received a ball each for achieving -1 Alex Lim, Terry McAlastair, Marcus Henry, and Jeff Mason. Marcus got another ball for NTP and Graeme P and Paul for a two. Also receiving a ball for a two were Steve Robinson and Mark Noblett. Most Golf was "won" by Jim Waters. Fascinating how the raffle is frequently won by the better golfers--in this case Terry, Paul and Nobby

Security Reminder

Members who store their golf clubs and/or carts/trundlers are reminded that they do so at their own risk and that any loss of items is not covered by the Club’s insurance policy. It is important that after retrieving or returning your clubs from/to the storage area under the clubhouse that you latch the door with the bolts on its inside before closing the other door. If this is not done, then it may be possible to push the doors open even though the doors are locked by the combination lock.

To improve security around the clubhouse we will shortly be installing a CCTV system that will provide continuous surveillance of the premises.
