This year we ran the Makara Trophy as a (make your own pairs event) which could be played anytime over Sunday 2nd May. We had a field of 11 pairings competing for this trophy. Scores ranged from 38 to 49 points. If you have any thoughts/improvements that we could make to this event for next year please let Fiona know at fionakearnz@gmail.com. We are always seeking ways to make our trophy events more inclusive and encouraging to players.

Matt’s Message: (Greenkeeper’s memo)

Last weekend there the fairways were really in a bad way. There were divots (some as large as craters on the moon) left unsanded and not replaced. There were also a number of rather large divots taken out of the tee blocks. Please, please everyone needs to do their bit to rectify this and educate/remind if players forget.

Women - 9 Hole Interclub Results

For the latest round of this competition the team travelled to Otaki to play Kapiti White who are amongst the leading teams of the competition. The players were pleased to achieve a 2.5 -1.5 win, especially as ‘coast’ club teams do well on these courses because they are familiar with them. The Otaki weather was sunny and made for enjoyable playing conditions.

Nobby, Brownie and Marcus vied for 3rd in that order on +2. Alex scored the only two (on 12) and Luke Underwood was NTP on 4 but paid the pig for missing the putt. Close competition for the Bunny was won by David Norton making one of his regular visits from the Mount. The raffle winners were Jeff Mason, Luke and Trevor Brown
