Please remember to repair your pitch marks on the greens and replace your divots. Please take a bucket of sand with you on your round to not only fill in your divots but also others that you see.

Congratulations to Steve Robinson

For achieving the ultimate - a hole in one on the 6th hole!

Interclub Results

There was a Captain’s meeting last Tuesday where discussions were had about selections and strategies for the up and coming games. Thanks to the Captains who are working hard to ensure we have the best competitive teams.

With three of the seasons 10 matches played our four Interclub Teams are well into their work.

  • Division 2 – 21.5 points and 4th place of 6

  • Division 4 – 12 points and 6th place of 6

  • Division 8 – 17.5 points and 5th place of 6

  • Division 11 – 21.5 points and 8th place of 10

All teams have played one home and two away games and this shows in the results. It is tough to get points away from home.

Interclub is about participation and with four teams and some players not being available a total of 60 players have competed so far this year (Div 2 – 12, Div 4 – 13, Div 8 – 17, Div 11 – 18). Importantly some 10 “new-to-interclub” players teed off for Karori. Not new to Interclub but new to Men’s Interclub is Gail Kirkland who halved the match she played.

Thanks to those members who have responded to the call and made themselves available to play.

The Captains are casting the net wide to draw in players so if you are interested in playing and have not been contacted yet please get in touch with Geoffrey Lee on 0274457190 or geoff.lee@xtra.co.nz

Your Interclub Captains are ably supported by Club Captain Fiona Kearns and are looking forward to selecting her in one of the teams when she is available. Thanks also to Hector and the Club staff who provide the course, lunches and information when it's needed.

The next matches are on 6 March, followed by the 13 March and 20 March – so it’s all on for Interclub during March

Diplomats Days Results

A successful event was held on Sunday and the coveted “Diplomat’s Trophy” was up for grabs. This year the Diplomats took the trophy home by 1 stableford point. Thank you to David Hill (Diplomat Club Captain) for his assistance in running this event. Even in blustery conditions the best stablefords of the day went to Marina Winzap with a whopping 42 points! There was only one two scored by Keith Atkinson on the 2nd hole.

Wednesday Club

33 players enjoyed warm, dry, "slightly" windy conditions for a Par competition on Wednesday. The winner was Graeme Crocker for the second week in a row with +3 (what have you got in your water bottle Graeme?). Dick Adam was runner up with +1 on countback from Ian Bates, Satish Chandra, & Gerd Warnke. Balls were given out for all square to Terry McAlister, Victor Diem, Derek Fitzgibbon, Jim Waters, David Ainsworth, & Steve Robinson. Steve was also congratulated for his Hole-in-One on Monday on the 6th. There were no Twos although Alex Lim was NTP (he paid the pig!). Peter Kirkman dropped 17 shots from winning 2 weeks ago to being awarded the Bunny Prize. John Markham and Chris Pearce were thanked for their stirling efforts in clearing the creek in front of the 5th Tee--recovering a bucket of balls in the process!!. Satish Chandra, Dick Adam and John Timperley won the raffle.

Ladies Vets

16 9 holers and 22 18 holers started play in perfect conditions, however the weather took a turn for the worst when the rain came in and turned the greens into swimming pools. The match was called off with many players only 3 holes away from finishing, but credit to the ladies as they stayed out and kept playing until Hector and George drove around in the carts to call them back into the clubhouse.

Hilary Holm was the highest placed Karori member for the 9 holes, in second place with 21 stableford points and Trish Titcombe finishing equal 4th with 19 stableford points.

Nicola Lowe finished tied 3rd with 34 stableford points, then Rose Rigarlsford, Denise Martin and Elizabeth Wagner all tied with 33 stablefords.

Sunday Club Day

As of this weekend, women can now play a stableford round from either the Yellow or the White tees and enter the Sunday Club Day competition. Men can now play either White or Blue tees and still have their score counted too. This has been changed to allow for players who may be required to play off different tees for different competitions and still have their score counted for the Karori Cup.

Shootout

Shootout for 2021 has started please remember if you enter Shoot Out the entry fee is $25 for the year and then every round you play can be counted, It would really help administration of the competition if you register online through the website, it does cost $2 extra but is a big help to us.
