MEET THE STAFF: GEORGE OF THE CLUBHOUSE
George at his best.
G’day members! I’m George and I have been working at the club since the summer of 2018, now working four days a week. Golf has been a part of my life from a young age, when I was a member at Shandon for my junior years.
After a prolonged sabbatical from the game, I have been a member at Karori since 2018. Hopefully I’ll be able to join one of the interclub teams for the upcoming season! Born and raised in Karori, I finished up at Wellington College in 2015. I really enjoyed my high school days, especially in my stint as a cricket umpire of the Wellington Premier men’s grade where I was able to umpire a few past and current Firebirds.
I then went to Dunedin for University, where I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies.
I was lucky enough to be a member at Otago Golf Club during my time in Dunedin, which I rank a very close second favourite to our course.
I’m looking for full time work in the area of marketing but COVID has proved the job hunt to be quite difficult so if anyone knows of any openings that would fit well with my degree then let me know!
Until the right opportunity shows itself I am more than happy to be part of the team here at KGC. It’s always a pleasure talking to everyone after their rounds on the weekend! However, if you do ever catch me in a bad mood, you can blame that on Anna getting on my nerves!
George less fresh-faced, post working with Anna.
ANTHONY BRYANT WINS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD On Sunday, Anthony Bryant won the Shirties Niue Shield. He was presented the trophy in a moving ceremony in the clubhouse. Here is a photo of that magic moment.

The Karori Cup is a year-long event based on Stableford Competition on Sundays. All you need to do to enter is hit "YES" for Club Day. At the end of November we will be calculating the best 10 stableford rounds from each player to find out the 2020 Karori Cup winner. There is definitely still plenty of time to get those good score cards coming in! MATT'S MESSAGE The green staff are spending time working on the surrounds and fertiliser to ensure some spring growth. We ask that players please refrain from taking carts/trundlers close to the fringe so heavy traffic areas can have time to rejuvenate. Try to avoid heavy traffic areas with carts and trundlers!
