Friday Flash

Hi Members

Anyone noted all the new members out there? Young new members too, which is superb to see. Last Sunday afternoon there were several groups of recently joined or about to join members, which was a joy and very promising for the club.

Veteran club members please make newbies welcome if you see them around, point out the tree on the second, and the pond on the 15th.

INTERCLUB

Women’s interclub bronze pennants is all over now, with Karori finishing a close 3rd after a last round tie with Royal Wellington. Great effort Karori!

With one round left in men’s interclub, all three Karori teams are well placed. Div 2 look as if they’ll be on the podium, while Div 5 led by Mark Peck and Div 9 captained by Geoffrey Lee are poised just off the pace. The final round will be on August 15, with Div 2 and Div 9 playing at HOME.

COVID SCANNING

For those of you with smart phones and the Dot.Golf app, please use that to check in at the course. You must still check in or scan the QR Code (it’s that weird jigsaw puzzle thing) as per the Government request of this week.

DOT.GOLF

Post-Covid, those starved of regular sport are looking to take up golf. Some are just rolling up, others are phoning in for slots. It would be a big help for the clubs (and to prevent people being pissed off when the course is packed) to book tee times online (at all times but especially Saturday and Sunday). The last weekend mornings have been very busy, which is awesome to see, but tricky to manage. Please help.

WESTWOOD HO

We are down to the final four, with top seed John Stubbe playing Don McCrone on one side of the draw, and ?????????????????????

IT SHOULD BE A REALLY FUN DAY

(DEBE SER UN DÍA REALMENTE DIVERTIDO)

BEWARE OF SLIPPERY STUFF

Be careful around the course. There are lots of slippery bits. Watch your footing, use the netted part of the bridges. If you’ve hit your ball on to a potential area of peril remember its cheaper and less painful to leave it there than hurt yourself.

Frost is another danger. There is potential to slip on bridges particularly. Use the wire bit PLEASE!

SUNDAY CLUB DAY

Two weeks ago Kevin Norquay won Sunday club with 39 points, last weekend he was last with 23. Luckily he is married to a psychologist.

FUNNY

You may never have seen comedian Robin Williams talk about golf. He says a few naughty words, but they’re in Scottish so you might not detect them.
