Hail dear Member Ok, last week we wanted it to warm up. Mistake. You know how when you say to yourself "don’t hit the ball into the creek" on 5 and you do? Well last week we thought "hope it doesn’t hail". And whammo! Anyway we’ve got some club tournaments coming up, so this week’s newsletter will highlight those. And here’s some advice (it won’t even cost you a two-stroke penalty) CARRY SOME COLOURED BALLS IN CASE THIS HAPPENS.
MATT’S MESSAGE (GREENKEEPERS) Matt Spraggs is encouraging us to take care around 'creek edges' as some of the soaking ground is fragile and he will be working on these areas this week in amongst the rain to mark and/or fix these areas. If you do notice something that needs to be done or is unsafe please advise us so we can get on top of things before they become an issue.
CREEK CLEARAGE CREW NEED COHORTS
Look at this for clean (the creek, not the club member, mind you he does look clean)! There are many weeds and many creeks, so if you can lend a hand that would be brilliant. You will be handsomely or beautifully paid in discovered golf balls.
KEN AND ROSE RIGARLSFORD TROPHY This is an 18-hole Individual Stableford Competition ON SUNDAY 12. All you need to do to register for this competition is go to the website click register. There is no entry fee for this competition and we would love to see you on Sunday. WESTWARD HO This is a cracking tournament, and with handicaps in play everyone gets a chance to win - especially you higher handicappers with an eye on Interclub. It’s off the white tees, so let’s get a big field.
CARTS Due to the heavy rain during the MONTH, the course was closed to carts. Now that the rain has stopped it’s all go. WARNING: carts are not entirely hail proof. PLACING THROUGH THE GREEN After all the rain over the last MONTH it’s muddy, it’s soft, so there is placing through the green. That means you can legally place the ball within 15cm, anywhere except in a hazard. BEWARE OF SLIPPERY STUFF Be careful around the course. There are lots of slippery bits. Watch your footing, use the netted part of the bridges. If you’ve hit your ball on to a potential area of peril remember its cheaper and less painful to leave it there than hurt yourself. Frost is another danger. There is potential to slip on bridges particularly. Use the wire bit PLEASE! CLUBHOUSE HOURS The Clubhouse will now be open every day so please try and support the club by getting some refreshments in the clubhouse after your round.
