Events this weekend

This weekend we have our major event of the year the City of Wellington Classic. Currently we have 60 entries so there is space if you get in quick and email the club. On Sunday we have the Tim McCrone memorial trophy.

AGM

Please put in your diary the 30th of November as the date of the AGM. 9.30am in the club rooms.

Any motions or notices of business need to be put in writing to the club by 14th November.

We really do need some new committee members !! Remember the club is run by volunteers who put in many hours of work to keep the club going.

We are looking for someone to step up into the role of President (the role will not involve managing the club as Jonathan has done for the last few years) we also need a Club Captain and at least 5 new committee members. We really do need to share the workload across the membership to ensure the club is able to function.

Currently for 2020 we will have

Adrian Porter - Vice President

Dick Borgdorff

Peter Howman

Marcus Henry - Treasurer

Andy Hyett

Grant Pollard

Fiona Kearns

Weekend Women

The final of the Top Cat Trophy was played last week with Mary Kavanagh with a steady nett 72 being the winner. Congratulations.

Wednesday Club

Our club also welcomed a former member, Bob Cavana but due to his long absence, he won the bunny prize for the day. Visitors and members alike were impressed with the course condition, we attracted 26 members for the day but the scoring was very high. Those who had plus 1 and below were not qualified for a prize. The winner was Mark Graham with an astonishing score of +8 (par format) and the runner up with magnificent score of +6 was Ian Bates. Martin Leung also had a good day with +5. Six other players had a score +3 and +2. NTP and Twos were awarded to Derek Fitzgibbon, therefore, he did not need to feed the pig fund. The other Two was won by Mark Graham

Raffle prizes went to David Norton, Peter Kennedy (absent) and Dick Adam.

We all had a good day and hopefully some of us will be lucky enough to be featured in the world wide app to be released by Mal and Wayne

Tuesday Ladies

On Tuesday, the 18 and 9 hole midweek ladies, played together in a special Melbourne Cup day tournament. We enjoyed a game of Bingle, Bangle, Bungle where players earn points on and around the green. It's a great game for players of mixed abilities.

The winners on the day were Hilary Holm, Sue McLaren and Paddy Sullivan who all won prizes. Sin Yee Hailstone won a golf ball for her birdie on the 4th hole.

We all purchased horses in the Melbourne Cup sweepstake that Jane Campbell and Sue McLaren had organised. Thank you ladies and hope your horses did well.

Karori Golf Club Inc

Twilight

21 avid Twilighters hit the tees on Thursday night. Peter Nichols probably wished he’d just paid for the BBQ as he collected the prize for most golf played. In contrast Gail Kirkland & Richard Reith on 19 STB were pleased with their performances as were Jo Hurst on 20, Antony Kennedy on 22 and Peter Alkema on 24. Peter was even more chuffed with his 2, as was Geoff Lee with is NTP. Lucky Dip went to John Haywood. We welcomed first-timer Trevor Prescott who will be looking forward to the Handicapper’s intervention

Wellington Men’s Vets

Sunny warm weather and excellent course conditions at Shandon on Monday 4th November did not help 18 Vets from Karori and Ohariu --20% of the field--with the top 14 players all achieving 40pts points or more. Div1 Winner Raj Gaundan ( Shandon) had 41pts and Div2 Winner Peter Holt ( also Shandon) 47pts!!. Our best were Graham Presland on 39 followed by Tony Kwok and Arnold Buck from Ohariu each on 35. Hopefully we will perform better at Te Marua on the 11th November
