Covid 19 Update

As New Zealand has gone back into level 1, it’s back to normal at the club now. Thank you to everyone for being understanding and cooperative during the 3 days at level 2 and the restrictions that came with it.

Course condition:

Please remember to repair your pitch marks on the greens and replace your divots. Please take a bucket of sand with you on your round to not only fill in your divots but also others that you see.

Six60 at The Golf Course

Karori GC hosted rock band Six60 prior to their sell out concert at Sky Stadium last Saturday, the lads had a fabulous time, as did our Saturday staff George and Anna who got an invite to the concert from the band !!

Interclub Results

It was a tough day at the office for 3 of our men's divisions playing away from home this week, fortunately the Div 2 team pulled through at home against Te Marua to win 13-2, and give the club something to cheer about.

Div 4 and 8 both lost away to Judgeford, the matches were far closer than the final scores would suggest. Both teams will play Judgeford at home later in the season, so lets hope our home ground advantage will reverse the scores.
Div 11 lost 4.5 to 10.5 away at Trentham Camp, we can blame the firing range for distracted missed putts!

This weekend Div 8 and 11 will be playing at home on Saturday.

The 18 hole ladies won 5.5 to 3.5 against Judgeford at Judgeford

The ladies 9 holers drew 2-2 against Masterton at Paraparaumu Beach in perfect conditions.

Well done to all our interclub players

Wednesday Club Results

25 members enjoyed the sun and gentle breezes while applying level 2 rules ( only 30cm gimmees and avoiding touching one another's balls and flags!) to complete the latest round for Wed Club. Only five played to their handicap or better with Graeme Crocker remembering his skills to score 40 Stableford pts declared the winner. Scoring 36pts were Martin Leung, Dave Ainsworth, Chris Pearce and Jon Lyall . Jon also scored the only two (on 12). Keith Gaskin was just shy of his age again with 35 pts. Graham Presland was NTP on 4 but paid the pig with his missed putt, and narrowly avoided the Bunny prize which Fergus McLean generously donated back to the Club. Raffle prizes were won by Dave Ainsworth, Gerd Warnke and Chris Pearce.

Mens Vets

"What a difference a day makes'' --so true. Fortunately the raising of the Covid Alert Level still allowed the vets to enjoy ideal windless and warm playing conditions on our well prepared course as noted by a number of our visitors. Some adjustments were needed to the bar and food service facilities but the 60 participants accepted the need to scan in where possible and recognize those changes were essential. Many thanks to Hector, George, Debbie & Brooke for their help with the catering, and to Matt & Pat- our greenkeepers for having the course in such fantastic condition. Also grateful thanks to my set-up and results helpers -Chris Pearce, Mike Cox, Graham Presland, and our past & present Presidents Jono & Victor. The weather on Tues was a huge contrast to Monday.

Results:

Div1 ( 0-21 Index) Winner David Hill (Miramar) Index 20 (22) scored 44pts

Our best were Mike Cox and Dave Ainsworth each with 36pts ( resp 7 & 8th in the Comp)

Div 2 ( > 21 index) Winner Miles Reynolds (Mornington ) Index 28 (31) scored 46 pts.

Or best were Satish Chandra 41, Jono Wake 38 and Bob Cavana 37 (5th, 11th & 12th resp)

Five twos scored Gary Spratt BF (2), David Hill M , Graham Wigley BF, & Jono.

The Karori sweep thus won by Satish $20, Jono $15, Bob $7

Raffles won by: Dave Ainsworth, Ben Paradza, Patrick Cordue (2), Gunter Karau, Mike Cox & Ian Bates

Diplomats Day

Diplomats Day is this Sunday, thank you to all who registered. The draw has been written up and it looks like we outnumber the diplomats almost 2:1, so hopefully we can come away with a good win on this fun day. All those who are playing, remember to arrive at 10 for morning tea before teeing off at 11.

Diplomats will be a multi tee start on the front 9, so please remember if you’re booking in to play before to go off the back 9 first to keep the front clear.

Shootout

Shootout for 2021 has started please remember if you enter Shoot Out the entry fee is $25 for the year and then every round you play can be counted, It would really help administration of the competition if you register online through the website, it does cost $2 extra but is a big help to us.

Shop/Bar

The big box of used balls is proving to be quite successful to visitors of the club, if when you're out on the course and you find golf balls you don’t want or need please support the club and donate them to the shop or pitch and putt shed so we can keep a supply of balls for our visitors to enjoy their round.

We still have some Titleist caps available for $35 without the KGC Logo.

The brand new Pro V1 and Pro V1x have arrived at the club at $79.99 a doz. Please support the club by buying from our shop.

You may have noticed a few different beers showing up in the fridge lately. New additions to the fridge include:

COVID PRECAUTIONS

Please keep up the handwashing, the checking in, and all of the other usual precautions around this. The authorities fear people are getting lax, and the events of this week have shown it can resurface very quickly.

SCORECARDS

If you want to avoid printing cards, use the golf.co.nz app instead, it has a scorecard enabled. Simply use the clubhouse wifi to open it and the scorecard before you tee off - then it can operate in offline mode.

The printer downstairs is back up and running so cards can be printed when the clubhouse is closed.
