Friday Flash 29/1/21

Hi Members

Welcome to 2021.

The course has dried out considerably over the last few weeks and the greens are lightning quick and in fine shape for the start of Interclub. The 2021 programme is available on the website and there are plenty of competitions up and running and coming up…..check it out.

New score card printer:

The new DotGolf printer for the downstairs screen has been confirmed to be installed on Wednesday 10th February.

New Scorecards have also been ordered thanks again to The Collective for their continued support of the club.

Please note that you can create your score card from the DotGolf app on your mobile if upstairs is closed.

Traffic to and from Golf course delay:

Road works will be commencing on South Makara Road, starting 28th January to 10th February. There may be some delays getting to and from the golf course during this period. Please allow extra time to get to and from the course, especially on interclub days.

Casual Staff Vacancies:

Anna and Katie will return to University in the next couple of weeks to continue their studies. Therefore, we have some vacancies for casual staff who can work on Saturdays and Sundays at the clubhouse. Preferably someone who owns a car, lives in Makara or Karori and have spare time would be most suitable. Please contact Hector at the office or Victor at 0211306034 for further details.

Mysterious bench on 17th hole:

Have you seen the very colourful new bench on the 17th hole yet? Kindly donated and painted by the Shirties. The Shirties have now donated a number of benches over the last few years, and we thank Laurie Cook for continuing to build them at pace.

Shootout

Shootout for 2021 has started please remember if you enter Shoot Out the entry fee is $25 for the year and then every round you play can be counted, It would really help administration of the competition if you register online through the website, it does cost $2 extra but is a big help to us.

Shop

We have a delivery of colourful ladies gloves from Footjoy, there is also a big box of used balls now available. We have some fantastic Tiltleist caps available $35 without KGC Logo.

A delivery of Titleist Trufeel balls has come in and they are $39.99 a dozen

Remember we still have Pro V1 and Pro V1x at $79.99 a doz.

Please support the club by buying from our shop.

Course condition:

Following an unusually wet Summer of Wellington, the grass has grown extremely fast in the last month. It has been difficult to keep up with the pace of growth. However, thanks to improved course conditions, “placing on your own fairways” is back in action and we have lost the advantage of “placing through the green”.

Please remember to repair your pitch marks on the greens and replace your divots. Please take a bucket of sand with you on your round to not only fill in your divots but also others that you see.

Inter club:

Men’s Interclub starts this Saturday with the division 4 team playing Boulcott’s Farm at home. Divisions 2, 8, and 11 all playing away this week at Paraparaumu, Wainuiomata and Mornington, respectively. Good luck to all playing this weekend!

Volunteers:

Thank you to Dick Borgdorff, Dave Eyre, and Wayne Furby for their ‘adopt a ditch’ efforts on the 6th hole. Also thank you to Chris Pearce and John Markham and other team members for their efforts on the 5th. Also thanks to Trevor Brown for installation of the Pressure hose, Denise for helping out on Mondays at the clubhouse etc. And thanks to numerous other members who have helped the club in various capacity and tasks.

BEER, BEER, BEER … AND SHANDY

The club has teamed up with local brewer Garage Project to bring members a range of their award-winning beers.

Turbine APA

Pils'n Thrills Pilsner

Fugazi - Low Alcohol

Shandy

COVID PRECAUTIONS

Please keep up the handwashing, the checking in, and all of the other usual precautions around this. The authorities fear people are getting lax, and the events of this week have shown it can resurface very quickly.

SCORECARDS

If you want to avoid printing cards, use the golf.co.nz app instead, it has a scorecard enabled. Simply use the clubhouse wifi to open it and the scorecard before you tee off - then it can operate in offline mode.
