Captain's Corner StopPress
Club Report

Good morning golfers

A third Captain's Corner this week.

There are three matters I need to raise:

1. Sunday Coaching

Maurice Munro will be taking coaching clinics again this Sunday 4 February.

The schedule is :  Juniors: 10am; Women: 11am; and, Everyone else Midday.

This weeks lessons will concentrate on the full swing.  All you need to bring with you is a 7 iron.  Everything else will be provided.

These are free lessons and Maurice is a good coach to set you on your golfing journey.

2. Nes Beard Trophy and Ayers Cup

The Womens Club Captain Denise Marten has asked me to inform everyone that both of these age related club trophies are to be contested on Sunday 18 February.

I listed Nes Beard for this Sunday (my mistake) but forgot the Ayers Cup.  Both these cups are for our members who are over the age of fifty.

You will be able to enter these competitions on the day but the Nes Beard is open for entries on the website and I would encourage you all to get used to using the site.  (https://www.karorigolf.co.nz/event-calendar)

3. Get entering events

First, and most important, please get your names in for the Diplomats Day on Saturday 24 February, tee time 11am (multi tee start).  This is always a great occasion and totally sponsored by the Diplomats Golfing Society who use our course for their annual opening day event. Please enter online (https://www.karorigolf.co.nz/event-calendar).

The course will be closed for casual golf from 8.30 in the morning to allow for the competition to proceed without interuption.

Next is Shootout.

It is $25 to enter and the qualification runs until the end of November.  It is a stableford event and your best 10 rounds over the year count towards your qualification for the palyoffs in early December.  The top 19 golfers qualify and in past years the scramble to pick up one of the last spots has been exciting to watch.

Once again, enter online. (https://www.karorigolf.co.nz/event-calendar)

That's all for today.
I can smell the weekend just a couple days away.
