Weekends are building with the better weather and we are now getting pretty steady usage on both Saturdays and Sundays.
Thanks Isaac for putting in the extra hours to make sure we are open and carts ready etc.
City of Wellington
Big day tomorrow!!! Good luck to all those who have entered.
85 registered players so it is going to be a great day.
Tee time is 9am with registration at the club house from 8am.
Entry fee for Karori members is $40.
Monday - Vets Day
A field of 48 golfers enjoyed a beautiful day at the club. The competition was in two divisions.
Division 1 results saw Eric Simpson (Wainuiomata) the winner on 41 points from Neville Carson (Miramar) on 38, Robert Spring (Boulcotts Farm) 37 and the best of the Karori players Tim Brosnahan on 36 was 4th with Martin Leung 7th.
Division 2 results gave the win to Clive Ralph (Mornington) on 38 points (on count back) from Karori's Saint Kennach 38, Mark Casey (Wainuiomata) 36 and David Copeland (Miramar) 35.
Three players got two's; Robert Spring (Boulcotts Farm) on 4 & 6, Ian MacLean (Manor Park) on 4, and Eric Simpson (Wainuiomata) on 13. NTP was Robert Spring (BF) and Steve Hanrahan (Mornington).
Many thanks to Keith, Debbie and Isaac from the Club. Also to Mark Peck, Mike Cox, Tony Kwok, & Barry Winfield for the help with setting up the competition & registration and to John Markham for collating the cash.
The next competition is at Waikanae on Monday 13th November--I will call for entries the week prior.

Tuesday
9 hole Midweek Ladies
Our Club Championship was finally decided on the most beautiful day of the spring so far. Congratulations to our 2023 Club Champion Sue McLaren who beat Lauren Robey on the last hole in what was a finely contested game. Well done both players. The other members played a stableford competition which was won by Loreen Brehaut. Congratulations Loreen.
Next week is Melbourne Cup Day and we will have the traditional sweepstake happening. All members are most welcome for lunch as well.
Wednesday Competition
16 members enjoyed fine, warm, slightly breezy conditions for this Par round with the Winners being the Committee who all played above their handicaps --Victor Diem +3 ( Wine), Mike Cox +1( 2 Balls) and Ian Bates +1 (1ball). There were no twos and in fact nobody was on the green off the 4th tee so no NTP!!. The raffle was won by Marcus Henry and Alex Lim. Everybody welcomed the stirling greenkeeper's work to restore the greens and the fairway fringes with the new and repaired mowers.

Thursday
Working Bee
Ten members turned out on Thursday for our working bee to get stuck into the course maintenance. Members donning gumboots and gloves could be found armed with rakes and shovels and a list from TK on what to do.
Thank you to all those who came out. It really makes a huge difference when people chip in. ??
Lunch was provided afterwards followed by a quick 9 hole round.
Twilight Golf
This week Twilight golf reflected the weather - the forecast promised a temp of 22 degrees but in reality, it was 16.
We all wanted to score 22 stablefords but in reality, the average, for the 16 golfers, was 14.37.
Martin BInks came in first with 19 stablefords, Matthew Everett second with 18, with Brigitte Boenisch-Brednich and Tim Brosnahan third on 17. Matthew had the only two of the night on hole 6.
We welcomed back Doug Calhoun, who dazzled his golf group by sinking a 15 metre putt from off the green to take the NTP, and Doug also collected the 'most golf' prize :)
A big thanks to Isaac for running the kitchen, to Doug for helping with the BBQ, to salad contributors and to our sponsor Richard Reith.

The Course
Thanks again to TK and his team for putting in some 12 hour days to make sure our course is tournament ready.
I know TK has been getting a bit of feedback about the rough but this is being addressed as competently as possible. It is true that the rough will be a bit longer than should be for a tournament of the stature of the City of Wellington hence the retention of placing through the green. All the same the course is showing good progress from all the hard work this week.

Tee Bookings
I know the course is not overly busy at the moment and it’s great to see some of you taking advantage of the great weather and coming out for a round whenever you can. Could you all please be sure to book your Tee Bookings into DotGolf. This gives us much better visibility as a club to the course usage and provides us better info for bookings and events. Thank you. ??
