Friday 7th July 2023

Official Welcome to TK Ross:

Thank you to all those of you who could join us on Wednesday 5th July to welcome our new Course Superintendent – TK to our club. We had around 50 members enjoying a fantastic morning tea. Thank you to all our amazing members that contributed to the morning tea. We have some wonderful home cooks.

Also a big thank you to Ngatau Hemopo who welcomed TK in Te Reo.

From the Course:

With TK taking over the reins of Course Superintendent, we are finally back up to a full complement of Greens Staff, as well as our many volunteers. This has been a long time coming but absolutely worth the wait.

This also means that I can now concentrate on the management of the club and all that involves. Hopefully TK will let me out on the mower now and again to help out.

To Dan and William – I want to personally thank you both for letting me help out and work alongside you both. It's been a real pleasure. Your care and passion for the course is second to none and very noticeable with what has been achieved in the last few months.

I know with TK's leadership and knowledge, you will both learn and grow and our course will be even more better for it.

Thank you so much for letting me be 'one of the boys'. I've absolutely loved it.  Robyn.

A couple of members have asked me to put a photo of the green staff up so they know who is who. Once I get all the team together, we will take a picture and put it in the Friday Flash to introduce them to all the membership. Thanks

Another Thank You!

Thank you to Athol Swann for making this beautiful wooden plinth for our urn to sit upon. Very handy for when trying to fill up the plungers!!

Advanced Notice of Closure of Clubhouse for Private Function:

The Clubhouse will be closed from 2pm on Thursday 13th July for a private function.

The downstairs area will be open as usual. There will be signs on the main clubhouse doors advising of the closure. The management appreciates your understanding and thanks you in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Trundler and Club Storage:

New green swing tags have been ordered for members who have trundlers stored at the club. They have your name and expiry date on them. Soon these will be placed on a table beside the entrance to the storage area. Please take your tag and attach it to your bag. Currently only 24 tags have been ordered, these are the members identified in 2020 who had paid and are still current but there are at least 37 bags in the area. If you have paid for trundler storage and do not receive a named tag, please contact Denise Marten on her email: denise@karorigolf.co.nz and one will be made for you.

If you have your trundler in the storage area and have not paid for the storage, please let Robyn know and she can invoice you for this. The current cost for storing your trundle and clubs is $60 per annum.

Booking a Tee Slot: (Ongoing request)

Thank you to all those that are booking and coming into the clubhouse (when its open) to check in.

Please can I ask that you ALL book a tee slot online or by phoning the Club on (04)476-733 or emailing the club on clubhouse@karorigolf.co.nz . I appreciate that at times when you look online, there are a lot of free tee slots so you think there is no need to book. However, the booking system serves as a way of knowing how many people are playing on the course, who is on the course which is important should there be an accident or event and we need to account for everyone.

Robyn on Leave:

Please be aware that I will be on annual leave from Thursday 13th July, returning to the club on Tuesday 1st August. I will be responding to emails while I am away but if you have anything urgent then please reach out to a committee member who will be able to assist you. Thanks

RESULTS FOR THE WEEK:

9-hole Midweek Ladies Report:

We were fortunate to experience another beautiful day for holding our 9th Medley Competition this Tuesday.  The winner was once again decided on a countback.  This time congratulations go to Patricia Sullivan who won on countback from Lindsey Pickering and Trish Titcombe. All came in with a nett 27 in a Hidden Holes competition.

It was also a pleasure for a few of us to attend the new Course Superintendent’s whakatau.  TK clearly has ideas for improving our course after only one day on the job!

Wednesday Club:

After a very pleasant morning tea to welcome TK, twenty-five golfers played in a Stableford competition. The weather was fine, but the course was difficult. Luke was the winner on 37 points with Ossie second on 36. Balls were given down to 33 points. Derek was nearest the pin but had to pay the pig. Martin had a two on the 4th. Mike Suggate won the raffle with Christopher Pearce second and Ngatau third.
