Announcement

The President and Committee of Karori Golf Club are pleased to announce that we have entered into a golf club management service agreement with Adrian Porter to act as Club Manager.

To avoid conflict of interest and although not on the staff, Adrian has resigned from the committee but will continue attending all committee meetings in an advisory capacity.

Adrian has 25 years of sport and event management experience around the world and with this club.

Over the last 18 months he has been the driving force in implementing our new membership, accounting and point of sale systems enabling the club to adapt to the current environment.  As an added benefit to KGC Adrian is also a PGA coach and member of the PGA of New Zealand.

Adrian's primary role will be to ensure all club operations run smoothly and in conjunction with the committee help raise revenue.

Adrian's role will incorporate club house staff management, administration of the membership system, green fees, point of sale system, website and social media, marketing and communications.

The committee would like to welcome Adrian to the position.

If you can’t reach the club Adrian’s phone number is 0279343644

THANK YOU CARL

At our last meeting the Committee received and accepted Carl Beentjes’ resignation from the KGC Committee and his role as Club Captain. We sincerely thank him for the time, energy and enthusiasm he has shared serving on the Committee.  He has worked tirelessly for Karori Golf Club and has been a positive role model for the game of golf.

Message from the new President Victor Diem

I’d like to appeal for volunteers to ensure our clubhouse is open every day for members and visitors.

We are looking for volunteers to cover 4 shifts 9-12  and 12-3 on Mondays and Thursdays.

Initially it would require taking green fees serving tea, coffee and soft drinks

Please contact Adrian Porter 0279343644 for further details.

KARORI GOLF CLUB COMMITTEE

At the last Karori Golf Meeting upon receiving Carl Beentjes resignation and there being some empty vacancies for positions of President and Vice-President and Club Captain, nominations were received from existing committee members. These were moved, seconded and voted for unanimously.

President – Victor Diem

Vice President – Mike Suggate

Club Captain – Fiona Kearns

Club Committee- Jono Wake

We wish these new officers all the support and encouragement to do their assigned roles. We are also aware we have a wide membership base who have a variety of skills and talents and we would love to draw upon these so, we may be in contact to see if you can help us with advice, expertise or guidance. Please help us help you so we continue to have a Club to be proud of.

The Committee would also like to acknowledge and thank all those who have helped us during Alert Levels and have volunteered their time to do all manner of jobs around the clubhouse and course. When we all pitch in, we have shown we can make a real difference. Let’s keep helping out.

GREEN KEEPER’S PIECE – Message from Matt

Matt and his team would like to remind all players that you can do your bit to help keep our course looking smart by taking a sand bucket with to help repair missing divots.  It also helps if you firmly replace your own divot too!  Remember it only takes a moment but looking down a fairway with chunks taken out does not make a pretty sight. Plus, YOU don’t want to land in it!

WEDNESDAY DAY CLUB – 10 June 2020

What a great day and freedom from corona virus restrictions today. The weather was calm, cool and with excellent course condition except good scores.  We attracted 34 players who enjoyed the competition in “normal pre-lockdown” format. We could remove the flags, tossed the balls for haggle and shook hands after the round.

However, the scores were not great, only 3 players played better or equal to their handicaps. The winner was Don McCrone with a credible score of 37 stableford points. Runner up on count back was Graham Presland with 36, while Dick Adams also scored 36 but lost out on a countback. Prizes were distributed down to 32 point. Thanks to Don who returned all his balls to the club kitty.  Strong competition for the Bunny and it was hotly contested and won by Mark Graham. NTP was won by our newly installed Club Manager, Adrian Porter didn’t have to feed the pig for rolling in a 8ft putt for 2. Others who had a twos were Don McCrone and Alex Lim.

Everyone had a great game and long live virus free Karori and NZ
