With another dose of rain on Wednesday, the course is quickly greening up and today it looks particularly sparkling. Hopefully members will get a chance to enjoy it over the weekend. Please note though that we have been advised by Meridian that there will be a power outage tomorrow from 9am to 11 am. This will mean all our systems will be down, including our scorecard printer, so players will need to take a blank one from the table opposite the card printer in the downstairs foyer. Please ensure you take one that matches the tees you intend to play off and to enter your membership number on it along with your name and date. After your round, either return it to the shop for entering, or put it in the card return box under the balcony, not through the downstairs slot where you return cards that have been entered.

· Div 9 men are home to Boulcott’s Farm

· Our women’s Mary Alward team are at home to Shandon

For non interclubbers, our women’s Saturday Club are playing Stableford and our men’s Autumn Cup contestants will be playing Round 7 which will be played on a stableford basis.

Holland Cup Final

Congratulations to Matthew Everett who beat Geoff Lee last Sunday 1 up to claim the Holland Cup for 2019. Well done Matthew!

Upcoming Events

Next week, depending on weather, our green keepers will be coring the greens. They will be working quickly to get them done as soon as possible to minimise the inconvenience for players but in order to help them, if they are working on the green of a hole that you are about to play, then please bypass this hole completely and record for the hole whatever score would earn you 2 stableford points.

Our next major all members event will be our annual ANZAC Day tournament on 25^th April that will begin with breakfast and a flag ceremony followed by a shotgun start. This is always one of our most popular tournaments so lock it into your diaries now. An entry form is on the notice board in the downstairs foyer.

Women’s Tuesday Club

Gale winds were predicted for Tuesday but a hardy group of 9 hole ladies ignored that and enjoyed their game. The competition was scoring our putts - the winner was Jane Campbell with 15 putts and tied in 2nd place were Lindsey Pickering and Loreen Brehaut with 16 putts.

Men’s Wednesday Club

No report this week as the weather forced them to postpone until today.

Team Yip Twilight Golf

26 keen golfers turned out for the final competition night of the 2018/19 Twilight season last night. With the longer grass and slower greens, scores were down on previous weeks. Graeme Couper won the NTP on hole #1. Ben Traenkle played his first game with us and took home the lollies. Geoff Lee won a golf ball for the only 2 of the evening. In third place on 20 STB were Peter Nichols and Willie Whakatahi. Second and first place-getters turned out to be a Committee and Sponsors Benefit Night – with Wayne Cook, Tim Rivers and Richard Reith scoring 21 STB and in first place was Antony Kennedy on 22! Next week is prize-giving and dessert eating with a bit of pitch n’ putt thrown in. If you weren’t here last night, please email me if you intend to come so that we can ensure we’ve got the catering covered.

Committee Feedback

The Committee had its monthly meeting on Monday and can report as follows:

· Once the green keepers have cored the greens they will renew their weed spraying program

· We have ordered a large quantity of stakes to enable us to create new penalty areas, as now allowed under the new rules. Once arrived, we will organise a working bee to paint them, as well as to repaint many of our existing yellow penalty areas as red areas, thereby allowing players to take a lateral drop from them

· We are also getting quotes for some further tree felling/pruning

· Our long term strategy is to future proof our course by making it more cart friendly, which will require better paths, and by upgrading our bridges and addressing stream bank scouring issues.

We have received our supply of 2019/20 Entertainment Books which are now available for purchase from the shop. They cost $65 and contain thousands of dollars of value.
